Chicago Bears and Cedric Benson Still Butting Heads

Last weekend Cedric Benson apparently left the game during the middle of the Bears’ game against the San Diego Chargers.  Some of Chicago’s higher ups are apparently less than pleased with Benson’s apparent lack of commitment and they let him know it.  And Benson is evidently about as popular with Chicago’s other players as he is with Bears top brass.  According to The Orlando Sentinel, the separated shoulder that resulted in Benson missing the first three exhibitions of the pre-season was a result of being hit harder and more often by the Bears defensive line during training camp. 

Even after being punished  for his absence by head coach Lovie Smith, Benson isn’t worried.  He recently told reporters in Chicago “Somebody could be your worst enemy one day, and then you do something great and they’re your best friend. Unfortunately, that’s just the nature of human beings, and that’s what we’re dealing with here. I’m pretty sure that once we play and have a couple of successful outings, all of this will get turned around.”
