Grossman Retreats from Packer Game Comments

QB Rex Grossman has been no stranger to controversy during the 2006 season.  He started the year on a tear, and then struggled mightily to the point that he was nearly benched after turning the ball over at an alarming rate and nearly costing the Bears a few games.  Towards the end of the season, when the pressure was high, his play did improve, and going into the last game of the regular season, a meaningless contest against the Packers, he appeared to have regained his form.

However, that all changed that night, as Grossman posted a QB rating of 0.0, and gave Bears’ fans reason to worry heading into the playoffs.  The controversy surrounding Grossman intensified following the game, when he reportedly admitted to not fully preparing for the contest against Green Bay.  These comments drew a firestorm of criticism.

An item published in the Chicago Sun Times today details Grossman’s response to this issue.  Grossman claims that his comments were taken out of context, and that his focus heading into this weekend’s playoff game has never been sharper.  Only time will tell, but fans who would like to see how Grossman performs should head over to StubHub.com to choose from the list of available NFL Playoff tickets.
