Team’s Success May Be Holding Rivera Back

In recent years, the NFL has relaxed its interview rules to allow teams to at least speak to coaching candidates who work for teams playing deep into the postseason.  That change was welcome to many who formerly couldn’t even speak to someone until their team was finished playing.

However, even with these new rules, it appears that Ron Rivera may be a “victim” of the Bears’ success.  Rivera is getting the interviews - six of them in the past 13 months, to be exact - but the teams are also feeling urgency to get their coach hired so he can begin to fill out his coaching staff early in the off-season.  That may be a factor in Rivera not getting an offer from any of these teams.

Of course, Rivera is taking it in stride.  If you’d like to see how his defense performs against the Colts, StubHub.com has all the Super Bowl tickets you’ll need.
