The Chicago Bears have agreed to take on a new five-year contract involving veteran defense tackle Darwin Walker. This decision was made on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 thanks to the event occurring on Sunday, July 29, 2007 wherein the Chicago Bears gained Walker from the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a pick in the 2008 NFL Draft that has yet to be disclosed.
For their part, the Buffalo Bills had acquired Walker in March of 2007 when they traded linebacker Takeo Spikes and Quarterback Kelly Holcomb to Philadelphia. For his part, Walker had sought a long-term contract extension and did not report to the Buffalo Bills training camp, since the Buffalo Bills had the opportunity to re-sign him until August 5, 2007. Had the Buffalo Bills not re-signed Walker, then a stipulation in the trade would have kicked in and Walker would ahve been sent back to the Eagles.
Now, however, Walker is a part of the Chicago Bears and neither side could be happier. For your chance to see Walker play or to root on the Bears, make sure you get tickets at stubhub.com today!
