DRUFantasyFootball.com has published an in depth article looking at Cedric Benson as a fantasy running back this year. The guide guide points out that Benson only had to shoulder half the load last year, and no one knows if he can really carry the Bears as an every down back. The article is long, in depth, and has a ton of information for all you fantasy football geeks out there. Plus, if you’re a Bears fan, the article is very honest about how your running back situation is looking heading into the regular season.
As far as fantasy football is concerned, Cedric Benson is a crapshoot. There are those who say that he is poised to have a breakout season. Then there are detractors who will argue that he is unproven and certainly not worth a high draft pick. The fact remains that Benson has some great blockers up front and the Bears running game has been their bread and butter the past few years. No one trusts Rex Grossman enough to run the offense through him, so Benson should get plenty of touches while racking up some serious yardage. Also, given that the Bears are going to be relying heavily on him in all situations, he should get plenty of TDs too. But is it worth risking an early round pick on him? I’d say you’d be better off letting someone else take the chance.
