Payton Ring Thief Sentenced

According to SurburbanChicagoNews.com, the man who pleaded guilty to robbing Walter Payton’s Roundhouse has been sentenced.  The man, James A. Graham, stole memorabilia from the Aurora restaurant that included Payton’s replica Super Bowl ring and authentic NFL Hall of Fame ring. The two items were valued at more than $4,100.  Graham was given 30 months probation for the robbery charge, on top of charges of possession of a controlled substance and violation of probation stemming from an earlier aggravated assault conviction.

The best part about this story is the fact that the police were able to track down Mr. Graham after the articles he stole showed up in a pawn shop three days after the theft.  Which means (follow me here) that a man who broke into a restaurant and stole some valuables, then pawned them off three days later in the city where the beloved Walter Payton played for his entire Hall of Fame career, was also the type of man who would find himself in possession of drugs and had himself a few priors on his record.  I mean, what are the odds?  Knock me over with a feather.

All the stolen goods have been returned, and the restaurant has installed a much better security system since the incident.
