Bears Gut Out Must-Win Game With Green Bay

ESPN.com has posted the AP report on the Chicago Bears victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.  The Bears defense, held together by grit, determination, and duct tape so it seemed, force five turnovers on the game, keeping the Bears in the game all night.  Favre had a couple of real head-scratching moments, throwing a couple of interceptions, one in the third quarter that proved particularly costly.  Brian Griese did no more and no less than what the Bears needed from him.  He threw for a little more than 200 yards with two touchdowns and only one interception.  The Bears have now bounced back to 2-3 and will look to continue their new win streak next week against the Vikings in another must-win divisional match-up.

I believe it was Bill Parcells who coined the phrase “winning is the greatest deodorant,”  and he’d be right in this case.  The Bears still don’t look impressive.  The defense is amazing, even with all the injuries.  Their special teams play, on Hester’s shoulders, is impeccable.  Heck, even Griese was playing well.  However, I saw the whole game, and I was still struck by just how awful Cedric Benson is.  I don’t know what the guy’s problem is, but he’s terrible.  Rookie Adrian Peterson (the other one) did extremely well when he got his touches for the Bears.  Benson will continue to be the Bears starter, but don’t be surprised if Peterson gets more and more looks as the season progresses.
