Bears Plummet in Power Rankings

ESPN.com has released their weekly Power Rankings, and the news is very bad, Bears Nation.  The Chicago Bears have dropped a full eight spots, all the way to number 23.  While the number 23 may have a very special place in the hearts and minds of Chicago sport fans everywhere, in this instance the number 23 is a not a good thing.  The Bears are occupying space in the Power Rankings with teams the likes of the Houston Texans, the New Orleans Saints, and the San Francisco 49ers.  This is what it has come down, to Bears fans.  The defending NFC Champs are slumming it in the dregs of the Power Rankings.

Looking for a silver lining in this is fairly difficult, and Chicago sports fans don’t need someone to sugarcoat things for them.  So let’s be honest.  The Bears will need a herculean effort to make the playoffs after a 2-4 start.  Unfortunately, unlike past years, the Bears have much more to overcome this year.  It’s not quarterback play that is hurting them, but rather a complete lack of a running game and their inability to make a big defensive stop when they need it.  The Bears are going to need to get their act together quickly if they want to salvage their season.  They’re going to need the support of Bears Nation now more than ever.
