I found this article on ChicagoSports.com. Apparently Chicago fans are starting to turn on first-year defensive coordinator Bob Babich. Babich of course took over for Ron Rivera, who left Chicago for the San Diego Chargers. As anyone who has been paying attention knows, the Bears defense has performed well below expectations this year. While a lot of that has to do with the various injuries suffered by key players, not to mention poor execution by the players who are actually out there on the field, Babich can’t help but take the heat a bit on this one. It just comes with the territory.
To Babich’s credit, he isn’t shirking the responsibility. He’s making himself accountable for the team’s issues and not passing the buck. However, his players are starting to come to his defense, as well they should. Babich can’t get out there and make sure his players are in the proper positions, ready to execute. He also can’t get the Bears offense going, especially on the ground, thus freeing up some time for his players to get some rest. When the Bears D is on the field for 2/3 of the game, they’re going to give up lots of points. Chicago fans should lay of Babich. There a lots of problems, and leading a witch hunt against the defensive coordinator won’t help
