Benson Hoping to Break Out

With the bye week behind them and Sunday rapidly approaching, the Bears are focused on the Oakland Raiders.  The Daily Southtown has published an article detailing Cedric Benson’s desire to finally get on the right track this season.  In the article Gene Chamberlain points out that if the struggling halfback can’t start running downhill against the Raiders, then it’s probably time for Bears fans to resign themselves to the fact that the Bears picked the wrong guy again in the first round.  The Raiders are giving up more than five yards per carry on average this season.  If Benson lays an egg against them coming off a bye week, he’ll be out of excuses.

And yet again, the Bears glaring need for a decent scout of elite offensive talent is brought to the forefront.  Bears fans have been forced to deal with Rex Grossman and all his interception-throwing glory, and now they have yet another first round bust, this time at running back. Cedric Benson has been the epitome of futility this year, and the Bears have not been the same team because of his inability to perform on the field.  If Benson continues to fail to get it done, the Bears will have some serious questions to answer during the offseason.
