Grossman’s Bomb Lifts Bears Over Raiders

Buckle up, Bears fans, because the rest of your season is likely to be an insanely bumpy ride.  In case you missed the game, Rex Grossman came in late in the fourth quarter when Brian Griese was sidelined with an injury.  Grossman then launched a 59-yard touchdown bomb to Bernard Berrian to give the Bears a lead they never again relinquished, and the Bears defeated the Raiders 17-6.  With Griese now out with an injury, and Rex Grossman coming in and reminding everyone exactly what he’s capable of when he’s not busy being Rex Grossman, now the Bears have themselves a bona fide QB controversy.

If you’re a Bears fan right now, how much does this hurt?  Is it like an ex-girlfriend who always cheats on you, then you break up with her, then she pulls her act together while you’re apart - the other girls you date aren’t exactly much better - so then you give her another chance, and it’s always the same.  You know Rex Grossman is just going to wind up floating an easy interception when you need a touchdown pass, Bears fans.  So why do you keep putting yourself in this position?  For now, though, I suppose it is the time for optimism.  Here’s hoping that this time, Grossman can channel his Good Rex for the rest of the season.
