Bears Blow Lead. Lose to Giants

In a game that had big time playoffs implications in the NFC North, the Bears managed to snatch defeat from the hands of sure victory, allowing the New York Giants to come back in the last minutes of their game to win 21-16.  This loss all but shatters the playoff hopes for the Bears and puts the Giants firmly in the driver’s seat headed into the final month of the season.  The Bears defense played extremely well, forcing turnovers that led to points.  The special teams also showed up, as did the Bears’ version of Adrian Peterson.  However, the Bears just couldn’t get the final stop when they needed it, and that proved to be the game.

Eli Manning had another terrible showing, turning the ball over on three separate occasions.  He wasn’t sharp the entire game, and honestly, he looked as though he was going to continue to become the second-half trainwreck we’ve all come to know and love (or not) over the years watching him play.  But somehow, Eli dug deep and found a way to engineer that final game-winning drive.  Whether that turns out to be more Eli turning the corner or the Bears defense being over the hill remains to be seen, but one thing is certain - the Bears will now need tons of help to make the playoffs.
