Just when you thought all was dark and cloudy in the world of the Chicago Bears, Devin Hester steps up and reminds us all that there are still some really good players on this Chicago Bears team. Devin Hester was named to the Associated Press All-Pro team for this NFL season. This shouldn’t really surprise anyone, as Hester only spent the year breaking his own record for kicks and punts run back for touchdowns in a single season in 2007. Hester also became involved in the offense, and his explosiveness helped the Bears score more than one touchdown, though he obviously still has a lot to learn as a receiver.
The Chicago Bears are certainly not a perfect football team. No one is arguing that they don’t have some real needs they have to fill in this offseason. The fact remains that there are possibly some moves that were made in the past few years that may be impossible for Lovie Smith to repair. He may not be the head coach of the Chicago Bears much longer if he can’t turn it around. However, it still bears noting (no pun intended) that this team isn’t as awful as some people would have you believe. With some creative moves and a few calculated risks, the Bears could be back on top next season.
