Muhammad a Finalist for Bart Starr Award

The Chicago Bears website is reporting that Muhsin Muhammad has been named a finalist for the prestigious Bart Starr Award - an award given to a player who shows exemplary character and leadership in the home, on the field and in the community.  Muhammad certainly fits the bill, having started the M2 Foundation For Kids, an organization dedicated to enhancing the educational, physical and spiritual development of children, according to their website.  Muhammad exhibits all the best qualities you could want in a professional football player off the field, and would be a deserving recipient of the Bart Starr Award.

This is exactly the kind of story the Bears need right now.  Things aren’t exactly all good in the hood with the Bears the moment, and this kind of positive publicity could be really good for the organization.  Muhammad is the kind of guy Lovie Smith has always been big on - a character guy who does all the right things on the field, in practice, and in the public realm as well.  If Lovie Smith could just figure out how to apply his eye for character to picking a really great quarterback, the Bears might really be getting somewhere in the next season.
