Bears Trade Griese

The Bears continue to make quarterback moves, though none of them are the moves Bears fans have been calling for.  This time, the Bears traded quarterback Brian Griese to the Buccaneers for an undisclosed draft choice. This comes on the heals of the re-signing of Rex Grossman and the Kyle Orton contract extension.  The Bears sent the journeyman back to one of his former teams.  Griese has now played for the Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  No word yet on how the Bucs plan to use the veteran.

While this move works well for Griese, I still don’t understand what the Bears are doing with their quarterback situation.  Griese gets to move on to the Bucs, who certainly have a thing for veteran QBs.  The Bears, obviously, get a draft pick that they can hopefully use to pick up a kid who can make an impact on their team in the future.  I am all for building through the draft. However, I can’t say that I understand how the Bears can truly believe they can win a Super Bowl in today’s modern NFL without a top-tier quarterback.  It’s very frustrating.
