John Clayton Calls the Bears Losers

I wouldn’t report it if it wasn’t true.  And sure enough, in his write-up on free agency, John Clayton declares the Bears losers in the first portion of the free agency period.  While it seems a bit harsh to resort to name-calling after all the Bears have been through, but apparently the Football Professor just didn’t get the memo about playground manners in his columns.  Honestly, while it may be a little mean, it’s certainly apropos.  I can’t think of another team that has done worse for itself so far in free agency than the Chicago Bears.

The Giants lost some players, but they just won the Super Bowl.  The Patriots lost players, but they retained Randy Moss.  The Kansas City Chiefs have lost a lot of players they need to replace, but they have 11 draft picks, so they’ll get the players.  All in all, the Bears are just an absolute mess.  They aren’t rebuilding, but they certainly haven’t been aggressive in free agency like other teams who feel they can compete for a run at the Super Bowl next year.  I’m just hoping the Bears actually have some grand master plan that I’m simply not privy to.
