Bears Could Lose Davis

The Chicago Bears are now in danger of losing another wide receiver, according to the people over at Chicago Sports.  Rashied Davis - a restricted free agent this offseason - received a tender offer of just under one million dollars per year from the Bears, but the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks have both shown interest in the wide receiver.  The Bears would have every opportunity to match any offer from another team, but because Davis was not drafted (he came into the NFL via the Arena League), the Bears would receive no draft picks from the team that steals the wide receiver.

While Davis may not be a household name among NFL fans, the fact remains that he could certainly play a key role in the Bears offense in the upcoming season.  Whether or not the Bears attempt to keep Davis should tell their fans quite a bit about what direction the Bears’ brass believes this team is headed.  If they keep Davis, then they feel they can win again next season.  If they decide to let Davis go, then it is time for everyone to accept the fact that the Bears are officially back in rebuilding mode.  Such is life in the NFL.  A Super Bowl one year can quickly turn to rebuilding the next.
