Bears Schedule Released

The NFL has released the 2008 schedules, and the Bears have one heckuva season ahead of them.  Their season doesn’t start easy, as they begin the 2008 campaign against the Indianapolis Colts at Indy.  They will then travel all the way to the east coast to take on the Carolina Panthers, a team that should be one of the most improved in the league by next season.  After that, the Bears finally get to come home, where they will play Tampa Bay then Philly to round out their first month of the season.  If you’re keeping track at home, that’s four games to start the season, all of them against teams who should be very good in 2008.

The Bears will need to make some serious improvements from last year to next season, because other than a week 6 game at Atlanta, this schedule doesn’t feature many gimme games.  The once-moribund NFC North is now a crapshoot.  Will the Vikings improve or will their passing offense take a step back?  Will the Lions team from the first half or second half of last season show up in 2008?  Will the Packers be able to win with Aaron Rodgers at the helm?  If things break right for the Bears, they could be back at the top of their division soon.  But there are no guarantees in the NFL.
