The Bears signed 10 players who were undrafted during the weekend’s festivities, and this article takes a closer look at the Bears’ undrafted talent. According to this report, the Bears got quite a bit of talent after the draft, not the least of which is Nick Hill - a young quarterback the writer likens to Tony Romo. That’s a bit of a stretch at the moment, but it’s nice to see someone showing some optimism. The Bears surely got a few good players after the draft, but there is no reason to start believing that they have found the next Tony Romo yet.
I am heartened at the sight of an optimistic Bears story. Since the draft, a majority of the stories in the Bears’ media circle have been negative. Some of them have even been a more extreme version of negative that I honestly didn’t even realize existed until I started covering the Chicago Bears. While I don’t buy into the whole “the sky is falling” argument, I also believe this article is a bit ahead of itself. The Bears should be a better team this year than they were last year. They need to make the playoffs, and they’ll need a QB to do that. Only time will tell if they already have that QB on their roster.
