More Bears Draft Talk

The draft was last weekend, in case you might have missed that.  As such, most of the coverage on this blog this week has been draft-oriented.  Furthermore, as response to the draft has been mostly negative, I’ve been noting the insanity of the Chicago media fervor.  While much of the coverage of the Bears draft has been negative - mostly due to the fact that the Bears did not draft a quarterback - this article offers a fresh and interesting take on the Bears 2008 draft.  The writer believes that the Bears are planning for 2009.

What’s really interesting about this article, though, is that the writer makes no bones about the fact that the Bears are not going to get that quarterback in free agency.  In fact, the whole piece is predicated upon the idea that the Bears are going aggressively go after a quarterback in free agency.  This is a very interesting take on the main problem the Bears have had recently: inability to develop an NFL quarterback.   So if the Bears just go ahead and spend top dollar on a proven QB, then they don’t have to develop a quarterback.  Everyone wins.
