Benson Tells his Account of Boat Incident

It’s not nearly the worst incident involving an NFL player and a boat (not even the worst in recent memory), but for a team like the Chicago Bears, who are built on the foundation of character and integrity, one of their players getting a BWI (Boating While Intoxicated) is a pretty big deal.  So when Cedric Benson was arrested over the weekend on BWI charges in Texas, this was a big deal.  Now, however, Benson has taken an opportunity to begin telling his side of the story, and his story stands in striking contrast to the story told by Texas police.

Having not been present for the incident itself, I’m in no position to speak on which story has more truth to it.  However, I can say that either story seems plausible.  It seems totally possible that Benson may have gotten away from himself and had a little too much to drink.  However, it’s also completely possible that a police officer in rural Texas got a little too big for his britches in detaining Benson.  Whatever the case, the lawyers will now handle the situation, and hopefully everything can be resolved without issue, for Benson’s sake.
