Urlacher May Skip Workouts

We’ve been talking about this for a few weeks now, but here’s another story about the fact that Brian Urlacher may choose to skip mandatory Bears workouts to protest his contract status. This is yet another chapter in the ongoing Urlacher saga and is not at all unexpected in light of the Bears just offering their kicker a long-term contract extension. I predicted Urlacher would respond negatively, and he has.

While we cannot know the two events are related, the timing of this story is certainly suspect. Of course, this could all be some kind of media spin, so we shouldn’t get too far ahead of ourselves. Urlacher wants to be paid like one of the best linebackers in the league. Unfortunately, he may be in the twilight of his career. The Bears are certainly between a rock and a hard place on this one. Here’s hoping this can be resolved before the beginning of the season.
