Harris Isn’t Unhappy

Much has been made of the Bears different contract developments this offseason.  Most of the issues have stemmed from Brian Urlacher’s contract dispute, but that has not been the only disputed contract this summer.  Both the re-signed quarterbacks caused their own amount of controversy as well.  But lost in all of this hubbub has been Tommie Harris. Harris is possibly the most important Chicago Bear whose contract has yet to be resolved.  Harris wants a four year contract, but it would appear that the Bears may be planning to franchise him.

It’s unfortunate that contract talks have stalled between Harris and the Bears.  However, it seems that Harris has not allowed the situation to affect his attitude or work ethic.  He seems happy to be working out and has expressed no concern over being franchised.  Harris seems to believe that he will make his money whether it comes in the form of a long-term contract from the Bears or not (and rightfully so).  I expect the Bears to resolve this issue before Harris can depart for another team, but this is just a part of the NFL at this point.  Contract disputes are a part of every offseason.
