Williams Out Indefinitely

The Chicago Bears’ offensive line was looking stronger than ever this season until the news came that first round draft pick and left tackle Chris Williams would have to have surgery.  The operation is to fix a lower-back herniated disc.  The injury stems from a back strain that happened at training camp on July 24.  It didn’t look as serious at that point, but it eventually became serious enough to require surgical intervention.  Coach Lovie Smith told Larry Mayer, “It is disappointing. When you draft a player like that you have big plans for him and we still have big plans for him. It has just been delayed. We would like to have him out there, but injuries are a part of it. We are no different than any other team. The good part is that he is coming back.”

The Bears have yet to announce when Williams will make a return to the field, but from the talk around the coaching staff and general manager, the team has not scrapped their big plans for Williams.  Fans hoping to see this rookie in action will just have to wait a little longer until he is healthy again.  Get your Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.com.
