Hester Doing Fine at Receiver

As far as coach Lovie Smith is concerned, one of the big questions going into the Chicago Bears training camp has since been answered. Many wondered whether special teams great Devin Hester would be able to make the transition to receiver and earn the large contract boost he was given.  Smith told the Associated Press, “Coming into camp we talked about him as a returner that a lot of people thought could play receiver. Now I think it’s safe to say that he’s a receiver. He’s doing all the things that we’ve asked him to do.”

Hester has been further honing his skills as a receiver by going against cornerback Charles Tillman.  Tillman is one of the most physical corners and great practice for Hester if he should ever go up against one of the tougher corners in the league.  The Bears lost two of their top receivers this offseason and are hoping that Hester can help fill in some of those gaps.  Hester proved to be an incredible standout on special teams and ran more than one back for a touchdown.  The Bears have made many changes on offense this season.
