Bears Start Season By Taming Colts

While it may be the Indianapolis Colts who were getting all of the attention as a league favorite in the preseason, it was the Chicago Bears who walked away with the win at Indianapolis on Sunday, trouncing the Colts 29-13. The Bears not only took the first regular season victory at Indianapolis’s new Lucas Oil Stadium, they also proved that they deserve respect from the rest of the league.

The much-maligned Bears offense stepped up and turned on both their passing and running game.  The star of the offense was rookie Matt Forte, the first rookie running back to start the first regular season game since Walter Payton.  He tallied 123 yards in 23 attempts and a touchdown.  Quarterback Kyle Orton showed he could get the job done when called upon and was 13 of 21 for 150 yards with no turnovers.

The Bears defense, the notorious Monsters of the Midway, showed what they are capable of when not plagued by injuries.  Cornerback Charles Tillman broke up passes and demonstrated a talent for stripping the ball. Linebacker Lance Brigs picked up one of Tillman’s strips and brought it in for a defensive touchdown.   If this game is anything like the rest of the season, Bears fans are in for a great ride.  Find your Chicago Bears tickets at StubHub.com.
