Orton-Led Bears Topple Lions

Trash talk doesn’t equal a win, which was further reinforced when the Chicago Bears trampled over the Detroit Lions 34-7 on Sunday.  The Lions were predicting a win as a good omen after the release of president Matt Millen, but the results were not favorable for the winless team.  Bears quarterback Kyle Orton had another career-high game and was the decided highlight of the game.  He completed 24 of 34 for 334 yards and two touchdowns.  The stats gave him the incredible passer rating of 121.4.  Like other games, Orton did a great job of spreading the ball around as well.  No receiver had more than six receptions and his passes hit the bands of eight different players.

The offense tallied three out of four of the Bears’ touchdowns, with Charles Tillman nabbing the fourth off of an interception in the third quarter.  Rookie running back Matt Forte had another great game as well, tallying two touchdowns, one rushing and another receiving.  He and running back Kevin Jones both had 36 yards rushing.  The offensive performance as of late has led the Bears to think optimistically about their chances against better teams like next week’s match against the Atlanta Falcons.
