The Chicago Bears have a history of draft busts (remember Anthony Thomas and Cedric Benson?), but this year could prove to be a turn in the right direction. Rookie running back Matt Forte is being heralded week after week for his rushing, passing and blocking skills that seem to only improve with every game. Another draft pick who has proved himself to be a top contributor already is defensive tackle Marcus Harrison. Harrison showcased his talent early in the game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday by sacking quarterback Jon Kitna for a seven-yard loss. The sack is Harrison’s second of the season.
The six-foot three-inch, 310 pound player out of Arkansas was selected in the third round of the last draft and has had to step up on defense already because of injuries. Harrison is stepping into his role nicely but still knows he has a long way to go. He said, “That is tough, but I’m getting comfortable and learning how to adjust to how the work week goes. You have nothing else to do, just practice, which is work. My coach is doing a great job coaching me. My teammates are pushing me to my limit so I’m not satisfied with what I do. “
