The Chicago Bears’ defense is ranked eighth in the league. So is the Atlanta Falcons’ offense. Both teams are 3-2 and have lost to both the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sunday’s game is shaping up to be a good one. The Bears defense has so far been great at stopping the run, but they have yet to face a running back like the Falcons’ Michael Turner. This is Turner’s first year with the Falcons after spending the last four seasons with the San Diego Chargers. Ironically, his stats this season are beating the Bolt he sat behind, LaDainian Tomlinson.
Last game against the Green Bay Packers, Turner had some 121 yards on 26 carries for one touchdown. The Bears’ defense isn’t taking any changes and has been studying Turner leading up to the game. Linebacker Lance Briggs said, “The guy’s physical. He’s not going to go down with arm tackles. We have to play physical and rally around the ball. It’s a great challenge for us. It’s an opportunity for us to stop one of the best running backs in the game.”
