Grossman Comes Through For Win

While Chicago Bears’ quarterback Kyle Orton may have been getting all of the press as of late, it was the second string quarterback, Rex Grossman, who saved the day on Sunday. Grossman, who lost his starting job to Orton, had to come in at the end of Sunday’s game against the Lions for an injured Orton. He added a touchdown himself by diving into the end zone with less than six minutes left in the game to give the Bears a 27-23 win.

Grossman was hardly surprised with his chance, saying, “I always thought odds are I was going to play a little bit, so we’ll see what happens. I never figured that I wouldn’t play at all. Odds are that at least two quarterbacks play some - especially here in Chicago.”

Before getting injured, Orton was 9 of 14 for 108 yards and one rushing touchdown. Grossman was 9 of 19 for 58 yards, one passing touchdown and one interception on top of his rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Rashied Davis caught the only passing touchdown. Lions’ quarterback Dan Orlovsky was 28 of 47 for 292 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.  Reserve your Chicago Bears tickets at StubHub.com.
