Forte Shines Against Lions

The big story from the Chicago Bears’ 27-23 has been quarterback Kyle Orton’s ankle injury and Rex Grossman’s fill in performance, but another Bear is deserving of recognition. Rookie running back Matt Forte tallied some 126 yards on 22 carries against the Lions with 101 of those yards coming in the second half. He said, “It’s always fun when you get the ball and things are clicking on offense. We did a great job up front moving them around and opening up holes… When I was running the ball the holes were just wide open. It starts up front, and the offensive line did a great job and opened up holes.”

While his accomplishment is admirable no matter what the circumstances, it comes as even more important pending the news about Orton.  Grossman has been consistently unpredictable in his performances, meaning the Bears will likely look to their running game as the staple of the offense. This game is his second 100-yard game, but his numbers may have been higher earlier in the season if the Bears hadn’t relied so much on Orton’s arm. There has yet to be word on the extent of Orton’s injury. Get your Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.com.
