Grossman-Led Bears Falter

The Chicago Bears lost 21-14 to the undefeated Tennessee Titans on Sunday in a curious match for both sides of the Bears’ team. So far this year, the offense has been uncharacteristically shouldering the bulk of the load during games, while the defense has been just getting by. Yesterday’s game felt like the Bears of years past, with the defense making big plays and the offense struggling to keep up. A big reason the offense struggled was because of the presence of quarterback Rex Grossman, in for an injured Kyle Orton.

In classic Grossman style, Sexy Rexy gave fans a glimmer of hope in the very beginning of the game by orchestrating an incredible opening drive that led to a touchdown and a 7-0 lead. After that, however, Bears fans remembered why Grossman isn’t starting anymore. He ended up being 20 of 37 for 173 yards, one touchdown, one interception and a passer rating of 64.4. With Grossman at the helm, the offense converted only three out of 14 third-down opportunities. The bright spot on the offense was running back Matt Forte, who still managed to get 72 yards rushing. Luckily for fans, Orton could be back any day. Get your Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.com.
