Hoke Added as DB Coach

A former Chicago Bear, Jon Hoke, will now be part of the coaching staff as he was named the next defensive backs coach for Chicago. He was hired to replace Steve Wilks. Hoke previously was the defensive backs coach for the Houston Texans for the last seven years. He is familiar with coach Love Smith as he was a coach at Florida when Smith was a coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Hoke commented on his hiring, saying, “I’m very excited. I have such great respect for the head coach and the assistant coaches on that staff. They have a good football team, and anytime you get to go to a good football team, it’s exciting because you know you have a chance to win games on Sunday.”

While playing at Chicago, Hoke took the field with the likes of Walter Payton and Dan Hampton. He was only with the Bears for his rookie season, which was 1980. He has also worked with defensive end Alex Brown before as he was a defensive coach at Florida when Brown attended.
