Sharper a Possibility at Safety

With longtime safety Mike Brown’s contract not renewed, the Chicago Bears will have to look for new talent at that position. The Bears could chase a safety during the draft, but free agency may also be a great place to find a tried-and-true safety. One such player is a free agent Darren Sharper, who just finished the season with another NFC North team, the Minnesota Vikings.  The Bears have reportedly been talking with Sharper and his agent.

Sharper said, “There’s definitely a lot of interest. First, they’re in the NFC North, which I’ve grown accustomed to. They have a great defense. And they’re on the cusp of getting back to the Super Bowl. It’s a great organization. And it’s great to draw some interest from them.”

If the Bears want Sharper, they may be up against some stiff competition. Although he could be visiting Chicago soon, it will be after a trip to New Orleans to see the Saints today. He also hasn’t cut ties completely with the Vikings, meaning he could be back in Minnesota. Another team is also in the running for Sharper.
