Bears Sign Jones to Two-Year Deal

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte will have a familiar face as a backup in 2009. The Bears have decided to bring back running back Kevin Jones, stealing him out from under a pending deal with the Buffalo Bills. Jones was all but settled on signing with the Bills, but was excited when the Bears chose to match his offer from the Bills to keep him in Chicago.

Jones said, “They really expressed how much they wanted me back…I’m ecstatic because [Chicago] is where I wanted to be. I always felt I wanted to be back with these guys because it’s a good situation.”

Last season was Jones’ first season with the Bears. He had spent the previous four seasons with the Detroit Lions. He suffered through an injury in his last season with the Lions after a rookie season where he amassed 1,133 yards and five touchdowns. Last season for the Bears, he played in 11 games and tallied 109 yards on 34 rushing attempts. The deal he signed with the Bears is reportedly worth $3.5 million over two years. The Bears are still working with resigning free agent offensive tackle John St. Clair. Get your Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.com.
