Tillman Recognized For His Character

Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman is set to receive an award, but it has nothing to do with his skills on the football field. On April 7, he will be awarded the Ed Block Courage Award in Des Plaines. Each team in the NFL votes on one player from their team to receive the award because of a player’s example of courage, sportsmanship, strength, dedication and professionalism. Tillman’s teammates got to see his persevere through a personal difficulty last year when Tiana, his infant daughter, went through a heart transplant. While dealing with his daughter’s medical problems, Tillman still worked with his Charles Tillman Cornerstone Foundation. He also purchased season tickets for the Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network.

Even while going through this tough time, Tillman had one of the best seasons of his career. He finished the 2008 season with 93 tackles, 17 passes defended and three interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. Tillman has been with the Bears throughout his entire NFL career and entered the league as the Bears’ second-round draft pick in the 2003 NFL Draft. He signed a six-year contract with the Bears in the summer of 2007. See Tillman and all your other favorite Bears with Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.com.
