The Chicago Bears brought back a backup cornerback yesterday when they re-signed Marcus Hamilton. Before being signed to the one-year deal, Hamilton was an exclusive-rights free agent. Hamilton spent his college years at Virginia and was picked by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the seventh round of the 2007 NFL Draft as the 245th overall pick. He made his NFL debut early in 2008, playing one game for the Bucs before being released. He came to the Bears in 2008 and played eight games last season for the Bears. With his two teams last year, Hamilton finished with seven tackles and two passes defended.
Hamilton marks one of many low-profile adds since the start of free-agency. So far, the Bears have steered clear of all of the big names in free agency, a surprise considering the Bears’ known needs on both sides of the ball. Many fans and analysts are still hoping the Bears make a few more waves in free agency before this year’s draft. The Bears may wait until they lock in their draft choices to make any larger additions. Fans can be there to see all of the new additions by getting Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.com.
