Smith Impressed with Rookies

Marinelli weighed in on what he thought of the new Chicago Bears rookies after last weekend, but another coach’s opinion means even more: head coach Lovie Smith. Smith got to take a look at everyone from offense to defense, and Smith was even more impressed than general manager Jerry Angelo, who already anticipated three of the Bears’ draft picks won’t make the roster. Smith said, “I’m trying to figure out what three Jerry didn’t like. Really, as you look at our draft, it was a good draft. All of the players we drafted, I think, bring something to the table. They have a chance.”

Smith also spoke about the three quarterbacks the Bears had and if they would add another. He said, “We’ll continue to look up guys right up until we can’t, but…we feel comfortable with the three guys we have right now. When you have a new player coming in like Jay Cutler, Jay will want the majority of the reps (plays in practice). Caleb Hanie, as a young player, needs quite a few reps.”

The next few weeks of workouts and this year’s training camp will weed out who will get to stay come the regular season. See all of the ones that make it with Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.
