Favre Back in NFC North?

Will the Chicago Bears have to worry about Brett Favre again? It looks like a distinct possibility as the veteran quarterback is set to meet with Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress. After his long and storied career with the Green Bay Packers, where he was a thorn in the side for the Bears, Favre retired only to want to return later in last year’s offseason. He ended up joining the New York Jets, keeping him safely out of the NFC North. The Jets have released him, and now the Vikings seem to be interested.

Coach Lovie Smith seemed more excited than nervous at the prospect of having to face Favre again. He said, “I’m on record of being a Brett Favre fan. He’s a great player. So I assume, if he’s available, teams will try to get him. Good for our league if players like that are still playing in our league… Right now, we’re trying to get the Bears ready.”

Smith has reason to have confidence even if Favre returns. The Bears didn’t fare well against Favre for years before Smith’s arrival, but after they seemed to contain the star quarterback better. The Bears have another reason to feel confident as they now have a star quarterback of their own with Jay Cutler. See the Bears’ matchups this season with Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.
