Angelo Likes Wide Receivers

Jerry Angelo has been very open this offseason with his opinions about the Chicago Bears’ team, thanks in part to a series of interviews he has done with senior Bears writer Larry Mayer. After last weekend’s three-day rookie minicamp, Angelo walked away with impressions of the new players. Who impressed him?

Angelo said, “Probably the receivers; I thought they all looked good. I thought [cornerback] D.J. Moore showed the athletic ability and ball skills that we want in our secondary. All the players looked like they belonged. What was nice was what we saw on their college tape was reflected during our three-day minicamp. That’s what it should look like, and it did.”

It is a good thing he was impressed with the wide receivers since that is the position that most pointed out as the Bears’ weakest link prior to the draft. Also, with a top quarterback like Jay Cutler taking the snaps, his passes can only be as effective as the men catching them. The debate is still on about how many of the selected players will be starters, especially since the Bears didn’t pick until the third round. The Bears have had success in the past with third round picks like Lance Briggs and Olin Kreutz. See all of the new players with Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.
