Gaines Becomes Newest Bear

The Chicago Bears offense got another boost yesterday when they signed tight end Michael Gaines to a one-year deal. Gaines has played for the Carolina Panthers, Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions since he entered the league in 2004. He is an impressive tight end at 6-foot 4-inches and 277 pounds.

Gaines said, “It’s an unreal moment for me right now, just because of who the Bears are, what the organization is and the winning tradition. It feels good in that aspect… I never thought I’d be playing for Chicago because of the situation they have. But this is a privilege that they see me in so many different ways. The Bears had a plan for me. You can’t beat that when people have a goal and a plan mapped out for you at your position. If you put both [the Bears and Jets] together and looked at them on paper, the Jets made sense. But like I said, the Bears had a plan for me and there was just something about Chicago.”

Last season with the Detroit Lions, Gaines started six out of 16 games, finishing with 23 receptions, 260 yards and one touchdown. He will be behind both Greg Olsen and Desmond Clark and you can see him next season with Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.
