Devin Hester may be the projected number one receiver for the Chicago Bears this season, but he first rose to fame on the team because of his incredible kick return abilities. Because of this, the Bears moved him to wide receiver but kept him at kick return as well. According to recent comments by Hester, however, he doesn’t seem to think that playing both positions will work for too long. But he is willing to try.
Hester said, “I think a return man simply has to be a return man. There’s really no other position he should go out and play…But with me right now, I feel like at punt returns there are going to be opportunities where we’re going to need big returns. With all the success we’ve had at the return game, it would be real crazy to just give it up now. Plus I’m looking to break this record. In the back of my mind, I’ve got to get this record before I give (punt returns) up.”
Hester will again try both positions this season, and it is shaping up to be quite a competitive one for the Bears. See him in person with Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.
