What the Denver Broncos wanted yesterday was for Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler to choke, but what they got instead was a painful reminder of just what their offense will be without this season. Cutler entered the field at Denver for the first time to a loud chorus of boos from Denver fans, but he wasn’t expecting anything different. He said, “I think it’s exactly what we were prepared for, what we thought it would be. Denver’s got good fans, and we knew coming in it would be a hostile environment. Which was good, it’s good preparation for us going into Green Bay the first game.”
Cutler started slowly, but finished with a 98-yard touchdown drive at the end of the half that culminated with his six-yard pass to running back Matt Forte. During his half of play, Cutler was 15 of 21 for 144 yards, one touchdown, no interceptions and a passer rating of 106.1. His actions on the field helped the Bears top the Broncos 27-17.
Former Bear Kyle Orton, who went to Denver in the Cutler trade, was 12 of 16 for 96 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions and a rating of 89.6. Orton suffered a hand injury at the end of the half, but not one that looks serious. Catch Cutler in action with Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.
