The player with the most wisdom on the Chicago Bears team may be linebacker Lance Briggs, so when he speaks up, it is worth listening. After their tough loss last week, many started to blame head coach Lovie Smith. The blame game doesn’t rattle Briggs, as he reveals he has seen it all before.
He said to the Chicago Tribune, “That’s what’s going to happen. In this game, everyone’s trying to figure everything out. You’re going to have to point fingers somewhere, and fingers always go to the head coach and the quarterback. But this is a team sport and it falls on us all. No one is not to blame and, as far as I’m concerned, everyone is to blame when we have success and when we lose.”
Briggs also expressed his desire to continue the fight this season and said, “There’s a lot of reason for people to doubt right now. Someone asked (me), ‘What do we need to do to become a playoff team next year?’ I said I’m more concerned with making the playoffs this year than next year. We have a lot of fight left and a lot of season left in us right now.”

A high total of rushing yards was expected from running back Matt Forte this season, and although he hasn’t tallied the yards most were expecting, there is another way his skills have improved even more. He has started tallying more receptions per game, ranking third in receptions this season among running backs in the league. Forte said of his new role, “It’s a way that I can contribute. Any time I can get out in space and have a chance to make a play, it’s good. It’s a way I can make an impact on offense.”
He also revealed that it keeps opposing defenses on their toes. He said, “It’s good that I can get involved in the passing game that way so that [defenses] can’t hone in on one receiver. They’ve got to look out for the running back too. It just adds another phase to the game so that you’re not one-dimensional. You can catch passes and run routes. It’s a chance to get the ball out in space.”

There is no denying that quarterback Jay Cutler had a tough game against the San Francisco 49ers last week. Some have pointed out that a performance like his could shake any quarterback’s confidence, but Bears general manager Jerry Angelo doesn’t see that happening.
Angelo told Larry Mayer, “I’m not as concerned about how it’s going to affect Jay in terms of his attitude and his ability to lead and play quality football. I have no qualms about that because we’ve seen him do that here and in Denver. He’s been through the ups and downs of the position, and I’m confident that he’s going to be able to handle this… I’m sure there were a lot of lessons taken from that game on Thursday given that we were down in the red zone and we weren’t able to finish drives.”
The Bears will be up against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday as they try to rebound from two tough losses in a row. If the defense can keep up the same effort they had from the game against the Niners, there is a good chance they could do well against the Eagles. The Chicago Bears players are still reflecting on their tough loss to the San Francisco 49ers last week. Wide receiver Devin Hester had quite a bad week, as a couple of Jay Cutler interceptions were meant for him. There is one joyful reason, however, that Hester may have been a little distracted, as his son was born last week as well. He revealed, “Yeah, I was focusing a lot on the baby all week. The majority of my focus was there. But I can’t blame it on that. I just have to get back into a groove.”
He also revealed that the worse thing the Bears can do right now is read too many of the reports about their shortcomings. He continued, “That’s why I don’t get too involved in the media or whatever. During the weeks that I was having good games, I wasn’t paying attention to the media then because once you have a bad game, it’s back to square one… I didn’t play up to my part last week. I’m not going to point the finger at anybody. When it’s my fault, it’s my fault. … I just have to step up and make more plays.”

After the Chicago Bears’ disappointing loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, quarterback Jay Cutler issued an apology to the Bears defense on behalf of the entire offense. While the defensive players may have appreciated the gesture-especially since Cutler threw five interceptions-they also reiterated that the apology wasn’t necessary after the 10-6 loss.
Tommie Harris, who has been in hot water of his own lately, said, “What does he have to say he’s sorry for? In this league, don’t say ’sorry’ until the end of the season. We have a lot of football ahead of us. Let’s make it up next week.”
Linebacker Lance Briggs also said of Cutler’s comments, “No apologies needed… We win and we lose as a football team. Next week’s going to be another week (and) Jay’s going to throw the winning touchdown.”
The Bears face a tough foe to mount a comeback next Sunday, as they are set to host the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles have shown a few weak points, however, so the Bears just have to make sure NOT to have as many mistakes in this game. Last night was not the comeback the Chicago Bears needed, but this time it wasn’t because the defense didn’t pull their weight. In fact, the defense held the San Francisco 49ers to a mere 10 points. The offense, however, only managed to post six points, ultimately dooming the Bears to another disappointing loss.
One of the worst performances of the night came from quarterback Jay Cutler, who failed to throw a touchdown but did throw five picks in the game for a passer rating of 33.6. Cutler recognized his shortcomings after the game and said, “I have to apologize to the defense, and the offense as a whole has to apologize. The defense played a great game.”
It looks like Cutler still has a friend on the team in running back Matt Forte, who said, “He’s a quarterback. Sometimes interceptions get thrown. At least he was out there trying his best.”
The only bright spot in the game was the defense’s ability to control tight end Vernon Davis, who was trash talking prior to the game about how he would excel against the defense. Catch the Bears live as they try to rebound by getting Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.
The Chicago Bears already know they have a lot to prove after an abysmal loss against the Arizona Cardinals, especially the defense. Tonight, they take on the San Francisco 49ers in San Francisco, and Niners tight end Vernon Davis provided some fire for the team.
Davis didn’t mince words when giving his opinion about how he though the 49ers offense would fare against the Bears defense. He said, “I think we can destroy their front. The guys up front, I think we can destroy them. I don’t see anything spectacular about their front line. Their linebackers, I think we can handle them pretty well. I like [Adewale] Ogunleye. I like the way he’s playing up front. He’s about the only player I like on their defensive line. I think he’s doing a good job.”
The Bears defense has struggled so far this season, especially in pressuring the quarterback. The Niners have done well this season, but that have also shows themselves to be beatable. A win today would be just what the Bears need to get some momentum in their favor. Be there to cheer them on this season by getting Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.
The Chicago Bears game against the Arizona Cardinals was mostly negative, but one Bear still has a reason to celebrate. Tight end Greg Olsen has been itching for a big game all season, and he finally got it against the Cardinals; if only other Bears had done the same. Olsen had five receptions for 71 yards and three touchdowns in his impressive effort.
Olsen had a hard time being excited about his accomplishment and said after the game, “Obviously nothing we did was good enough to win the game, so none of our performances were too special or else we would have won. At the end of the day, this is a results business, and we didn’t get it done today. No matter what you do personally, the object is to win, and we didn’t do it.”
The game also showed the chemistry between quarterback Jay Cutler and Olsen finally come together. The Bears have a lot of improving to do if they want to finish the season strong, but it looks like Greg Olsen may just have figured out where he fits in the offense. As they try to rebound, be there to cheer them on by getting Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.
There aren’t many positive things to say about the Chicago Bears’ 41-21 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, which is probably why most people are focusing on the abysmal effort of the Bears. According to the Chicago Tribune, the 31 points the Cardinals scored on the Bears in the first half is a history-making feat for the Bears, and not in a good way. Prior to this season, the Bears had only allowed 31 or more points in the first half five times in nearly 90 years. They have done it twice this season.
Defensive end Alex Brown summed up the sentiment and said, “For this to work, we’ve got to believe it’s going to work. We’ve got to have a sense of urgency, and we don’t have that right now. I don’t know what the hell is wrong, but we’ve got to change it. This is the eighth game of the season, and I know a lot of people would like to think that we’re better than 4-4, but, hell, our record is 4-4. So that’s what we are.”
A low point in the fame was the effort of defensive tackle Tommie Harris. Harris didn’t contribute to the defense, not because he failed to try, but because he was ejected in the first quarter. In an incredibly poor display of judgment, Harris punched Arizona guard Deuce Lutui. Harris was already on thin ice, and this may just have put the nail in the coffin of his career as a Chicago Bear. This week will inevitably be a test for the Chicago Bears. They gained some momentum against the Cleveland Browns last Sunday, but this Sunday they are facing the Arizona Cardinals, who went to the Super Bowl last season. The Bears defense, specifically, knows it will have its hands full with stars like Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin and Tim Hightower.
Linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer spelled out the challenge ahead and said, “They definitely have a lot of weapons. They probably run as many four wide receiver sets as we have seen. They’ve got a couple Pro Bowlers, a great quarterback, and running backs that can catch the ball out of the backfield.”
A bright spot in all of this is that the Cardinals can either play at an elite level or crumble into a sub-par team. The Bears are hoping they can put enough pressure on the Cardinals to make them the latter.
Defensive end Adewale Ogunleye knows what his game plan is, as he revealed, “Going into this game, my mindset is if we don’t get to Kurt-pressure him, sack him-it’s going to be a long day. So with that said, there’s a lot of pressure on our backs, a lot of pressure on my back, to get Kurt.”
