Can the Season Be Salvaged?

With three straight losses, the Chicago Bears have found themselves in real danger of missing the playoffs.  At 4-6, the NFC North title is well out of reach, but the Wild Card is still in play.  It’s going to take a scorching hot run to secure a playoff berth, but Bears fans have to believe in their team.  The team has really struggled to get the running game going this season.  Matt Forte doesn’t look like the same running back that he appeared to be last season, but he’s been able to contribute in the passing game.  Still, the lack of a reliable ground attack has made this offense somewhat one-dimensional, making Jay Cutler’s job much tougher in the process.

Cutler has thrown his fair share of interceptions this season, but it’s not all his fault.  Defenses are keying in on the passing game.  Traditionally, Chicago Bears football has been about running the ball and playing defense.  Despite the team’s defensive struggles, perhaps the Bears should try to get back to running the ball more often.  Forte has the talent, and success on the ground could mean a more fruitful passing game in the end.  It’s not going to be an easy road, but nine wins could potentially earn a team a Wild Card berth, so hope is still alive.
