Tinoisamoa Out for the Season

The Chicago Bears defense was dealt another blow following their Week Six game against the Atlanta Falcons. During the game, linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa was carted off of the field with a knee injury. After undergoing an MRI, it was announced that he would be out for the rest of the season. He is the second linebacker to suffer such a fate, as the Bears lost star linebacker Brian Urlacher to a wrist injury after their season opener against the Green Bay Packers.

Coach Lovie Smith was hesitant to say the Bears would add another linebacker. He said, “We feel pretty good about our bodies that we have out there right now. Whenever you have a player like Pisa go down, hopefully we can get Hunter to fill back in. Our numbers are still pretty good.”

Last Sunday’s game marked Tinoisamoa’s first start since the Green Bay game. During that game, he injured the same knee, keeping him out for a few weeks. The Bears will be relying on Lance Briggs, Hunter Hilenmeyer, who has also been struggling with injuries, Jamar Williams and Nick Roach. With little depth at linebacker, there is a chance Smith could change his tune about a new edition. See them play live by getting Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.

Ochocinco Has Nice Comments About Bears

Outspoken hardly begins to describe Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco. The Chicago Bears are up against the Bengals this weekend, and surprisingly Ochocinco has been doing the opposite of trash talking during a conference call.

Instead, he voiced his respect for cornerback Charles Tillman and said, “I’ve been studying film on ‘Peanut’ since training camp. He’s really, really good, man. I know I’ve been playing around on Twitter and going back and forth with the nonsense, it’s the way I play the game, but he looks really good. He’s shut down some top receivers, so it’s going to be a fun, interesting matchup come Sunday.”

Ochocinco also commented on the two-year contract extension the Bears gave quarterback Jay Cutler, as he had previously joked about being a vital part of that deal on Twitter. He said, “Just having fun man. Congrats to Jay, it was well deserved. He’s one of the best in the game, regardless of what other people think. I’ve seen him play, and I see some of things he can do on the field, and trust me it’s deserved.”

He also had shoutouts for linebacker Lance Briggs and wide receiver Johnny Knox. Looks like he has more than a few friends in Chicago. See them live with Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.

Smith Looking to Move On From Loss

Last Sunday may have been a difficult loss for the Chicago Bears, but coach Lovie Smith knows that little can be gained from drastic action. He commented on what he thought the Bears could learn from the loss and said, “Coming off the loss, we’re not pleased with anything we did (Sunday) night, starting with me. I’m not pleased with a lot of things I did. But we’ll go from there… We look at changes after every game. We look at what gives us the best opportunity to win. But I don’t foresee any major changes on the offensive line.”

One player who had an especially bad game was running back Matt Forte, who added fumbles to his low rushing total. Smith didn’t seem concerned about that either and said, “He didn’t have a lot of production (Sunday) night the way a lot of us didn’t. I don’t think any more than that. Matt will be fine, just like the rest of our team.”

The Bears will be up against the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday, and it is going to be important for them to bounce back from Week Six’s loss. Be there to cheer them on by getting Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.

Adams Added To Bears’ Roster

The Chicago Bears may still be reeling from their loss this weekend to the Atlanta Falcons, but that isn’t the only news. Prior to the game, the Bears added a new defensive end in the form of Gaines Adams. The edition comes as a bit of a surprise, as it isn’t one of the positions where injuries have been depleting the roster. The Bears gave up a 2010 second-round draft pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to secure Adams.

General manager Jerry Angelo has high hopes for him and said, “He’s a very good player. The two marquee positions in our scheme are the three-technique and the right end. If we can re-create history with him, I would go back to my days in Tampa when we brought in Simeon Rice. We had some success. Rod was there. That would be [the ideal situation] for us if something like that were to happen. We feel very strongly about our scheme, our coaches and the way we evaluate players.”

Adams has been with the Bucs since he entered the league in 2007. So far this season, he started five games and tallied 10 tackles, one sack and two passes defended. See him this season with Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.

Bears’ Mistakes Lead to Loss in Atlanta

The Chicago Bears offense didn’t look too bad last night. That is, until they got into the red zone. They ended up with a 21-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons last night, but the Bears had plenty of chances for the win. Jay Cutler threw two picks, one when the Bears were within striking distance. The Bears also had what looked to be another sure-fire score in the third quarter when they had a first down at the Atlanta one yard line. The Falcons didn’t even have to provide a goal-line stand as running back Matt Forte fumbled twice in the same number of plays, the second of which resulted in a turnover.

Coach Lovie Smith summed up the game well when he said, “We had a lot of opportunities to win the football game. You can’t make those types of mistakes on the road against a good football team. When you have the ball in the red zone, you need to be able to get some points, and those turnovers really hurt us a lot. You’ve got to be able to put points on the board in those situations.”

Turner Confident in Offense

For years, it has been the Chicago Bears defense that gets the majority of the press. The defense is even stronger than many expected this season—especially in light of the season-ending injury to star linebacker Brian Urlacher—but that doesn’t take away from the accomplishments of the offense this season. Of course, one of the major differences is the addition of new quarterback Jay Cutler. Cutler, however, isn’t the only story. The wide receivers were considered a weakness before the season started, but have since stepped up to show they have what it takes to compete.

Offensive coordinator Ron Turner recently spoke about the offense’s accomplishments and said, “Like I said, we’ve done some good things and we are doing some good things. The next step is to do them more consistently. That’s what we’re looking for. That’s what I’ve talked to the offense about. I don’t think we’ve reached our peak by any means. I think we can get a lot better, and I’m looking forward to that.”

The Bears will be facing off against the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday, which is sure to require a top-notch effort on both sides of the ball. Get your Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.

Cutler Ready for Atlanta

The Chicago Bears will come off of their bye week this Sunday to go up against the Atlanta Falcons. He may have not been with the Chicago Bears last season, but quarterback Jay Cuter was the only opposing quarterback to head to the Falcons’ stadium and win last season.

Cutler recalled what it was like playing there and said, “It’s a loud environment. Sunday night football, it will be even louder so we’ve got to protect the football. They’re a good defense. Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, all those guys will try to do a good job. We’ve got to play our best ball.”

He continued, “We’ve only played four games and there’s a lot of football left for us to improve in that area. We’ve gone against some tough defenses. … We’ve kept ourselves out of third-and-long, which is good. We’ve just got to get a little bit better at third-and-seven and nines.”

The team is much healthier than they were prior to the bye, and they need to get some momentum going in to the rest of the season. After Atlanta, they will face the Bengals in Cincinnati before hosting the Cleveland Browns and the Arizona Cardinals. See them play with Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.

T.O. To the Bears?

Despite their forecasted shortcomings before the season began, the Chicago Bears wide receivers have been doing an impressive job. The rumor mill, though, is churning out reports that the Bears are in the market for a veteran wide receiver. And not just any veteran wide receiver: the one and only Terrell Owens. That’s right, the same T.O. that has yet to find a team where he won’t cause problems. He joined the Buffalo Bills before the start of the season, but their abysmal start has the administrative staff looking to make changes. Would the Bears take a chance on such a player? It is hard to tell.

On one hand, T.O. is undeniably one of the elite receivers in the game, and T.O. will inform anyone within earshot of that fact constantly. His talent, however, comes with one BIG caveat. He is a baby. He whines when he doesn’t think he gets the ball enough and stirs up contention on any team he is on. If the NFL were kindergarten, T.O.’s report card would read “doesn’t play well with others.” He has made a concerted effort to turn around his reputation, but that is quite the risk for the Bears to take. Tinoisamoa Talks About Upcoming Opponent

Chicago Bears linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa has already talked about expecting to start once he returns from his injury, and that time has now come. Tinoisamoa has started participating in practice and is expected to be ready for the Bears’ upcoming game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Tinoisamoa is more focused on his upcoming opponents than his injury, more specifically Falcons’ tight end Tony Gonzales. Tinoisamoa said, “He’s big, he’s mobile, he’s agile, and he’s athletic. He has great hands. You can go down the list. He’s definitely one of the best receiving-slash-blocking tight ends in the game. Fortunately for me, going through training camp against [Bears tight end] Greg Olsen, he’s one of the finest ones. You can definitely compare him with Tony. You know it’s going to be a tough day, but you play hard. I’ve got 10 other guys to help support me, and I’ll play my best.”

Tinoisamoa also talked about how hard it was to watch from the sideline and said, “Winning’s a good thing and you always want to be a part of it. I’m there. I go to the meetings and whatnot. But I’m not actually out there on the field, so I really don’t get to experience that, and that’s [why] I came here, wanting to win. But we’ve got plenty of games to go, so I’m excited about that.”

Tinoisamoa will be a welcome returner as the Bears have suffered multiple injuries in their linebacker corps. See them live with Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.

Ogunleye Fined for Stafford Hit

The Chicago Bears had a bye week this week, but that didn’t stop the NFL from handing out fines from the week before. At the top of that list was defensive end Adewale Ogunleye, who was given a $7,500 fine from the league for unnecessary roughness. The fine was for his sack on Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford that dislocated Stafford’s right knee cap. Ogunleye wasn’t called for a penalty on the original play, but it was later ruled that he violated the league’s horse collar rule in the replay. The injury took Stafford out for the Lions’ 28-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. Daunte Culpepper filled in instead, but Stafford may be back this week.

Other players also received fines for the game. Bears wide receiver Rashied Davis received a $5,000 fine for an illegal crackback block. Detroit also had two fines. Cornerback Anthony Henry was fined $7,500 for his own horse collar tackle while running back Kevin Smith received a $5,000 fine for an illegal facemask. The Bears and the Lions face each other again the last week of regular season play in Detroit. See your favorite players by getting your pair of Chicago Bears tickets from StubHub.
